I thought I’d make a 2012 roundup post of sorts. This was my first full year in Japan after coming here in July last year. Somehow, I lived through another Fukuoka summer.
The year of the dragon has a special significance to me because it’s my birth year, and the 2nd dragon year I’ve had (3rd counting 1988). There was a lot of terrible, shitty, awful things that happened this year, and we lost a lot of people decades before their time. I had personal challenges too, I lost my job and nearly didn’t get a new one, and I had to fight through about 5 months of the worst depression I’ve ever suffered.
But a lot of good things happened too: I got a new job, which I like a lot better than my old one. And I made new friends! For some reason, my tumblr gained about 200 followers, because early in the year I got into Fate/Zero and it became my major fandom with my most precious OTP (have I ever shipped anything this hard I don’t even know). Why people want to read me babbling about it so much is a mystery to me but mostly because of this is why I made so many new tumblr friends like nexttosuperwholockfatestuck, savethegame, mizuno-overflow, moe-moe-llanriya, and a bunch more, chances are if you started following me in this period you’re my friend. (Also UNTRAMEN but did I become your friend this year or last year either way best tumblr 2012 award) Fate/Zero also got me into Type Moon which I am very happy about, although there’s still a whole load for me to read/watch/play.
My art may have improved slightly from last year, most of it was my webcomic, which also has doubled in popularity since last year which I am incredibly happy about. To everyone who reads this comic and enjoys it - thank you. It makes me really happy, although I don’t know how many of my followers actually read it. (I am probably known more on tumblr as “that one person who doesnt shut up about Waver” than “that one person that draws that one comic about Australian cities”, for better or worse. I was also able to draw more fanart which is a big deal for me because it’s so difficult for me I rarely attempt it, most notably this F/Z fancomic!
I also got into (custom) dolls, I built my first Pure Neemo-Melbourne-in January, and am ending the year with five of them. Possibly my most dangerous hobby yet.
Plus I went to England and Wales, which was pretty awesome! I have wanted to go to London ever since I was a little kid as most of the books I read then were set there, so to finally be able to was really special for me.
I lost my hamster Clover, who I got last year, but my mother got a new dog, Zeva, who is very very cute and silly.
Thank you to everyone who follows me and puts up with my nonsense, I hope we all have a much better 2013.
